What is FormulaBot?
FormulaBot helps users convert natural language commands into Excel formulas that help them accelerate data processing in Excel or Google Sheets. FormulaBot also launched Data Analyzer which is the interest area for me as it falls in the category of AI Analysts like NeoAnalyst.ai.
I personally have a lot of respect for FormulaBot’s David Bressler for having pulled off a massive and early success story in the category of ‘GPT Wrappers’, operating at $200K+ MRR as of Sep 2023.

How did the test go?
- I uploaded a sample CRM set of an IT Services company, and FormulaBot promptly generated a description (powered by GPT) to build a high-level context of the data.

- A cool UI to have both the sheet preview and query canvas on the same screen. And the platform does help users get started with a few prompts to get started. NeoAnalyst.ai recommends 20 statistical analysis queries, just in case if you are wondering if it does.

- Like many other AI Analyst platforms, FormulaBot also helps you understand the code used for generating the analysis and the results.

- This is something I like. Followup prompt recommendations post an analysis. I would have given a higher utility rating only if the recommendations were relevant to the first query I clicked/typed.

- I was excited to try the ‘Detailed Analysis’ feature but it did not execute. I expect this should be similar to what ChatGPT’s Advanced Data Analysis and Claude2 do with data. However, the relevance of this exploratory analysis to the context of the data and the usability of the insights are always a big question mark.

Will I pay for the product?
Absolutely yes to the Formula Generator. As an avid Excel user, I see super value here. But the Data Analyzer is too basic and not enterprise-ready. At NeoAnalyst.ai, we focus entirely on the latter, i.e., an enterprise-class AI Data Analyst with a PowerBI-type experience.
KUDOS to David Bressler for building a product that basically runs on Bubble’s no-code app builder platform. Quite a feat.
